I like this type of Sandy

Screw Hurricane Sandy.  I can’t even wrap my head around all the damage that Sandy has left behind in her wrath.

I will try to be zen and think of Aruba.  We were there for a week and returned home on the eve of Hurricane Sandy’s destruction.

The sun, the ocean and the sand.  *sigh*

If you are a foodie, you will love Aruba.  We loved all of the amazing dining options, especially the gourmet studios of 2 Fools and a Bull and Carte Blanche.  Warning:  The following content contains food porn.

Here is the 5-course affair with the wine pairing at 2 Fools and a Bull (the Louis Latour Chablis is one of the best whites I’ve ever had in my life, by the way):

I so wish we were back there right now.  Or, at least had some wine at hand.

Hope everyone is safe and sound in those areas affected by Hurricane Sandy.  xo

ONE by Sunny Girl Bulldog Sweater in burnt orange;  J.Crew Factory Classic Button-Down in Plaid in mineral grey; 7 For All Mankind ‘Gwenevere’ grey skinny jeans (old); Report ‘Marks’ bootie in luggage.

I first spotted this bulldog sweater on the See Jane blog.  It was love at first sight.  I’ve kinda wanted a printed sweater since last winter, but I didn’t see anything that really caught my eye.  My husband grew up with an English bulldog and he wants us to adopt a bulldog of our own.

The sweater is 100% cotton, which I love because it won’t pill like acrylic does.  The collar has a few tiny metal studs, which is a fun little detail.  Like I said, love.

accentuate

As promised, here’s a pic of my new Chanel ‘Vertigo’ nail color.  I like it.  I wanted a dark grey nail color and this is a very dark murky shade.  In the sunlight, there is a hint of purple (it reminds me of ‘Paradoxal’).  But in indoor lighting, it’s an opaque grey.  I don’t like it as much as my other new Chanel nail polish, ‘Frenzy,’ but it’s a great winter color.

I finally hopped on the accent nail trend, it took me a couple of years, ha.  On my ring fingers, I have OPI ‘Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous.’  This is a great silver metallic color and it’s a festive look for the holidays.  I was gifted Chanel ‘Graphite,’ another metallic silver nail color and I prefer ‘Graphite’ more than ‘Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous.’   Graphite has more depth of color, which includes tiny gold flecks.  The OPI polish is more flat.

Indoor lighting:

I wanted to keep the overall look monochromatic.  I feel ready for these cold tempuratures now!

Do you do accent nails?  If so, what’s your favorite color combo?

sweater sighting

What a gorgeous fall day!  It started on the chilly side.  Time for layers, which was good because everywhere seems to blast the heat in full force.  I wish I had remembered to wear my sunglasses, but it was good to be out in the warm sunshine.

Albert Chan New York wool zip-up jacket (old); Bellatrix teal silk sleeveless shirt (old); Trouve open weave cableknit sweater (old); Old Navy ‘The Diva’ skinny jeans; Puma casual sneakers (old); Chanel jumbo classic flap bag.

I ran into Target today to pick up some new earbuds for my iPhone, then I saw this dress on the rack and could not believe this Target had my size.  On sale.  $35!  It’s also shocking that I walked out of Target with only 2 items.

Kirna Zabete at Target metallic jacquard zip-back dress.

You know I’m a sucker for jacquard and brocade, and it has pockets!  The store also had this dress in a plum color, but it did not look as luxe as the black.  It’s a great LBD staple.

school spirit

I attended my husband’s prep school reunion a few weekends ago.  It was a casual evening outdoor event.  Lots of fun meeting everyone and seeing some old friends.

J.Crew Factory scoopneck sequin tee in dark pewter; Zara red jeans (old); J.Crew Factory yellow braided belt (old); American Eagle Outfitters cotton knit motorcycle jacket (old); Modern Vintage ‘Janet’ black riding boots (old); Echo grey leopard print scarf (old).

A closer look at the sequins (the t-shirt was so comfortable to wear, just like your favorite old tee) and my makeup.  I used my Urban Decay Naked 2 palette:  Verve on my lids and Foxy on the browbones.  Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner in Stray Dog (OBSESSED with this color).  Dior blush with Urban Decay UrbanGlow Cream Highlight in Wicked on the tops of my cheeks.  Dior Addict Ultra-Shine lipstick in #320/Ultra-Sensualite Shiniest Appeal (no need to wear lipgloss over this lipstick, it’s shiny and I love the feel of the lipstick on my lips) to finish the look.
