sweater reviews

Happy Wednesday (how is it Wednesday already?)! So a few items arrived from my online Macy’s purchase last week (detailed here). The three sweaters and two pairs of camo sweatpants were delivered and I tried them on.

I did not take pictures of the camo sweatpants (my apologies) because I already returned them. They were true to size and were nice sweatpants but the inseam length was too long for my short legs (I have about a 28″ inseam). If they were shorter in length, I would have kept the army green pair. However, I was on the fence with the sand color as it looked too authentic, military-wise. It was less purple and more peachy in person than they appear in the stock photo.

Oversized sweater in white & red; Madewell Alley Straight cropped jeans (old, similar here & here); Gingham espadrilles (also in navy or silver); Rhinestone and tortoise shell earrings (old, similar here, here & here).

I already bought this Free People tunic sweater last year in wine (I’m wearing it here, here and here) and it was one of my favorite sweaters because the length was long enough to wear with leggings and the generous cut in the torso was quite forgiving in flattering coverage. But the best part were the fitted sleeves, which made it easy to get a thick coat on and off the sweater. The knit is ottoman ribbed which provides a nice substantial texture. The knit doesn’t pill either, nice. I ordered a size XS in both colors and the fit is perfect. So I’d say to size down one size since I’m a size Small now.

I love both the white and the red colors. The white is a true white while the red is orangey-red or a tomato red. It’s bright, but in a good way I suppose. It screams Fall! Love that.

Oversized tri-color sweater in wine; Madewell Alley Straight cropped jeans (old, similar here & here); Gingham espadrilles (also in navy or silver); Rhinestone and tortoise shell earrings (old, similar here, here & here).

How funky cool is this tri-colored sweater? It’s part vintage and part Punky Brewster, yes? I am really loving this fun sweater. The length is cropped but not too cropped since it successfully hides my major muffin top (remember that I have a longer torso too). I ordered a size XS and it fits perfectly. So again, order one size down from your usual since I’m a size Small now.

I will return with more reviews as the rest of my online order gets delivered. What do you think of the sweaters? Did you partake in the Macy’s VIP sales event?

Have a great day! xx

30% off at Macy’s

Until September 25th, Macy’s is running a mega sales promo for 30% off your purchase of selected clothing, accessories and shoes (25% off selected jewelry/watches and home; 15% off selected cosmetics/fragrances; 10% off selected electronics, furniture, mattresses and rugs). So, it’s a great time to get something on super clearance or to add to your fall and winter outfits. Simply use promo code VIP to get your extra savings.

Here are my 30% off VIP clothing picks:

Oversized sweater in red; Oversized tri-color sweater in wine; Oversized sweater in white; Camo sweatpants in army; Fishnet socks in black (also in nude or wine); Camo sweatpants in sand.

I have the exact same sweater that you see in red and white above, but my sweater is wine colored (a purchase from last year, I’m wearing it here, here and here). I really love this Free People sweater and it was available only from Free People and it never went on sale. So imagine my glee when it’s now available at Macy’s and in more colors. And on sale! I bought a size XS last year and I just tried it on and it still fits. I’m a true size Small now so the fit is very generous if the XS still fits me.

I’m hating pants right now as they are not doing any favors for my postpartum belly. Enter the camo sweatpants as a solution. I loved my black and leopard pairs of sweatpants after I gave birth to my daughter in March. Soft, comfortable and easy to wash. Why mess with a winning formula when it worked well last winter/spring? I ordered a size Small and I hope they fit.

How cool are these fishnet socks? They bring out the inner teenage punk in me. I got all three color and plan to wear with my many pairs of flats. I love the striped cuff and think they will play nicely peeking out atop ankle boots.

Boho maxi dress in green; Boho maxi dress in ivory; Striped sweater dress; Racerback bralette (front & back views) in black (also in pink); Kale sweatshirt in navy/white (also in grey/green).

Now this is a bohemian maxi dress. Major Moroccan vibes with this one. I love both colors so I ordered both to see which one I like more. I ordered a size Small since the reviews said the shoulders fit true to size.

The vertical stripes sweaterdress is amazing. I am on the fence ordering this because I don’t see an occasion where I’d wear it. If I still worked, I’d order this in a heartbeat. It looks very flattering for many types of figures.

I love my Free People bralettes but my current stash is too small for me right now. I ordered this bralette in a size Small. I’m in need of a racerback bra too, so the timing is serendipitous.

Lastly, this sweatshirt cracks me up with the Yale references in typeface and color scheme. I’ve recently decided to become vegetarian (maybe even vegan), so this is my nod to my new lifestyle choice.

Are you planning to shop the VIP sale at Macy’s?

TGIF and enjoy your weekend! xx

still summer

Eyelet shirtdress in white (sold out, similar); Gingham espadrilles (also in navy or silver); Navy tassel earrings (sold out, similar); Halcyon Days hinge bracelet (gift, similar).

Lilly Pulitzer romper in indigo sunseekers (print sold out, other prints here & here); Navy tassel earrings (sold out, similar); Halcyon Days hinge bracelet (gift, similar); Gold initial necklace; Gap slide sandals in white (old, similar).

The weather of Summer 2017 is still going strong as evidenced by my recent outfits. I will be sad once autumn officially starts next week since summer is my favorite season and this particular summer whizzed by so fast.

The only items I will review is the gingham espadrilles I’m wearing in the first image and the romper in the second picture. The espadrilles are made out of neoprene so they are made for the water. The soles are rubber and have decent traction on the bottom. These will be my beach shoes (bye-bye uncomfortable flip flops) and for running around town. True to size with a snug fit so as to keep out sand, bits of seashells, etc.

I picked up the romper during the recent Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale and I really like this romper. It’s a stretchy t-shirt material and the straps are wide enough for a regular bra. It’s so easy to get on and off. The print is vivid and beautiful in person. I ordered a size Small and I feel it’s an appropriate fit. It’s long enough for my longer torso and the shorts aren’t too short.

Hope you are enjoying these last days of summer! Have a great weekend, xx!

Boiled wool coat in camel; Sweater-Blazer in grey; Navy espadrilles (also in gingham or silver).

J.Crew is running an up to 30% off your purchase (if you buy at least 3 eligible items) with promo code MOREPLEASE. If you buy two eligible items, it’s 20% off your purchase. There’s free shipping too! I took this opportunity to get some goodies for fall. I also had a 15% off sales card that my local J.Crew store handed me during my recent visit, so I was able to stack the two promo codes.

I have wanted a camel coat for a long time but I never seem to find exactly what I want until now. I love the minimalist look to this boiled wool coat. I ordered a size 0 since it’s very generous in its sizing. I originally ordered a size 4 but after seeing a few reviews on Instagram, I called J.Crew’s customer service and the rep, Carla, canceled my size 4 and re-ordered a size 0 for me. She also honored the two promo codes that I used earlier online, which I appreciated very much. So, J.Crew had great customer service.

I want to try out the sweater-blazer since it’s popular online. A little more polished than your regular cardigan, but it’s still soft and cozy. I ordered the light grey color. I’m jazzed that this is 100% merino wool, no blend here with subpar acrylic.

I have been stalking the website for the navy pair of espadrilles in my size. I love the gingham pair that I ordered earlier. They are true to size and are made of neoprene so they are made to dunk in water! So much better than flip flops, since they keep out sand and tiny rocks or broken shells.

Did you order any goodies from J.Crew?

Have a great Thursday! xx

weekend outfits

Madewell lace-up top in navy (old, similar here & here); Lilly Pulitzer capri leggings in pop up lobstah roll navy (sold out, similar); Vans slip-on sneakers in navy leather (old, similar); Michael Kors polarized sunglasses (also here); Charles Krypell aquamarine earrings (gift).

Beach Bum sweatshirt (also here); Banana Republic Factory Store cuffed denim shorts (old, similar); New Balance sneakers (old); Michael Kors polarized sunglasses (also here); Charles Krypell aquamarine earrings (gift).

Here are a couple of outfits from last weekend. The colorful leggings in the first image are from the recent Lilly Pulitzer after party sale. The print I’m wearing has since sold out, unfortunately. You could get another print, however, very easily. They run a smidge big as they are a tiny bit loose in the waist and the legs. But it’s very comfortable and totally well made.

The Beach Bum sweatshirt was a birthday gift and it’s an instant favorite. I’m wearing a size 2 (medium) and it’s a loose and slouchy fit which I like for sweatshirts. Love the drape on this top as well as the vivid colors. I also love that the top was made in the USA.

Have a great week! xx
