🖤 avec les filles

Avec Les Filles ruffle sweater & vegan leather moto leggings; Dolce Vita white ankle boots (similar here & here).

Avec Les Filles means “with the girls” in French and it is my favorite clothing brand discovery this year. It has a laid back French girl vibe but with the hint of an edge. And at a great price point where most separates are at or under $100. I was first in love with their rose quartz a/k/a millennial pink slides (see them here & here) and then their clothing (see it here, here, here & here). Their vegan leather is exceptional for the price point. I’m obsessed with my moto miniskirt.

My love for this brand has grown with the addition of this ruffle sweater and vegan moto leggings. Both are true to size, I’m wearing a size Small. The sweater has one small scale ruffle at each shoulder and it has this flattering effect of making your waist appear smaller. I’m sold.

The moto leggings are fantastic and it’s the same vegan leather used for their moto miniskirt–yay. You pull these on like leggings and they are stretchy in the waist so it’s easy on and off. The length is a bit long on me but I folded the hem inward. I was not sure how they would look on my body when I made my online purchase, but I’m so glad I rolled with it. I love these pants!

I have more Black Friday weekend purchases to review so please check back.

15% off cruelty free beauty at macy’s

If you’ve been following me on Instagram (at valleyoftheshoes), you may already know that I’ve recently decided to buy only cruelty free products, going forward. I’ve been doing preliminary research (aka googling) and found there are organizations and blogs that dedicate themselves into listing which companies are cruelty free or not. I check the databases on Peta and Leaping Bunny as well as cruelty free blogs to see if a brand or specific product is cruelty free or not. Some blogs and even brand websites, such as Korres, specify if the ingredients are suitable for vegans or vegetarians. Since this is all new to me, I haven’t had the opportunity to try out the following but they all seem to get high marks online. I will do a follow up review on the items once I’ve started using the products.

I was happy to see that Macy’s offers cruelty free beauty items. There is always Amazon but every now and then you will come across reviews for a product stating it’s not a legitimate product made by the brand, especially for beauty items. I believe Macy’s takes this out of the equation so I can shop with confidence. And a huge bonus that Macy’s has a 15% off beauty and fragrance right now with promo code FRIEND. So, let’s be a good FRIEND to the animals and also save some money for ourselves and holiday gifts!

Tarte eye/blush palette (for $15.30!); Korres lip butter; Korres exfoliating cleanser; Korres fragrance; Korres toner.

The Tarte palette is $15.30! This is a perfect Secret Santa or stocking stuffer. I knew Macy’s carried Tarte but it was a pleasant surprise to see Korres. I’ve been wanting to try this brand but I don’t really shop at Sephora so I just never got around to it. I got their iconic lip butter in guava (clear) and in pomegranate (a peachy tint). I also stocked up on basics such as cleanser and toner. I thought a new fragrance would be fun. All of my Korres picks above are suitable for vegans, I checked with the website. Please correct me if I’m mistaken.

Kenra color maintenance shampoo & conditioner.

I was looking for a shampoo and conditioner that would preserve my hair color and this seems to fit the bill. I hope they work, I just got my hair colored at the salon (a rarity for me these days).

Tarte blush set; Tarte lippie lingerie lipstick; Clean fragrance set; Tarte sunscreen; Tarte toasted eyeshadow palette.

Tarte has a loyal following, especially for their powders such as eyeshadow and blush. Their long staying power is what separates them from their peers, which is what my oily complexion needs (blushes usually disappear after a couple of hours). I also ordered the lipsticks which received high ratings online. The latest buzz on Tarte’s Instagram is the toasted eyeshadow palette. It’s supposed to amazing things for warm complexions (that’s me). There’s this color Flame that is beyond gorgeous on different people, but really all the colors are extraordinary. I ordered Tarte’s sunscreen which is suitable for vegans, it’s another must have basic.

I was intrigued by the Clean fragrance set. It’s hard to find cruelty free fragrances but this company’s scents seem popular. I’ve never heard of this brand, so it’s a bit of a discovery for me.

Do you have a favorite cruelty free beauty or fragrance item that you’d like to share? I’d love to hear about it!

sweater leggings = cozy

Oversized tunic sweater in wine (old color, new colors here, here, here & here; Floral sweater leggings in black; Vaneli harness ankle boots (old, similar).

This outfit shows my love for Free People sweaters since I’m wearing my beloved tunic sweater in wine from last year and my recently purchased sweater leggings (discussed here). On a chilly day like today, my legs were wrapped in their own sweater. Sweater leggings really keep you cozy and warm and they look great under an oversized tunic sweater. This particular pair are well made, they seem to have a tightly woven knit where it doesn’t catch easily on the inside and helps keep out the chilly wind.

I ordered a size Small and they are true to size (I also followed the size chart on Free People’s website). The length is perfect for my shorter legs, where they are not too long (love this!). I also dig the random floral motif, it’s very pretty and the various colors complement many sweaters I already own. I highly recommend these sweater leggings for yourself or as a gift for the holidays.

Have a great week! xx
