what’s in my hospital bag

Top row, left to right: Nursing nightgown; Set of 2 nursing tanks; Nursing sleep top (more sizes here); Set of 3 boyshorts.

Bottom row, left to right: Maternity robe; Set of 2 nursing tanks; Black sweatpants (also in heather grey); Leopard sweatpants.

I’ve reached the 8 months pregnant benchmark and I’m in mega prepare mode. Above you will find what I plan to pack for my hospital bag. The tops and nightgown are nursing friendly and the sweatpants are comfortable and not too tight or fitted. The jersey knit robe is very soft and has pockets.

I will be working on the baby’s going-home outfit next. This is very exciting!

outfits lately

Madewell Seedstitch cardigan in cabernet; Old Navy maternity printed pintuck top in floral (sold out, non-maternity options here, here & here); Madewell maternity skinny jeans; Target high-top sneakers in grey flannel (old, similar).

Free People oversized turtleneck sweater in navy (also here & here); maternity legging jeans in indigo (also available in solid black and dark indigo; non-maternity option); Ugg classic short boots in chocolate.

Cheers to the weekend, hope you’re staying safe and warm! A couple of recent outfits, which proved to be toasty and quite cozy.

Enjoy your Sunday evening, xx.

maternity essentials

I’m almost at the eight month mark in my pregnancy and I wanted to share a few items that have proved themselves to be essentials during this extra special time.

Nursing bra two-pack in black & blush & Nursing bra in black.

The two nursing bras in the set are very comfortable because they are wireless and provide ample support and coverage. The shoulder straps stay put too. I bought a size Small for this set and the fit is perfect. They’re like sports bras where there’s no hook and eye closure. You have to put them on and take it off over your head. The neckline is kind of high though, which led me to my second bra.

I was super excited to see that my favorite bra of all time, Natori’s Feathers bra, is available as a nursing bra. I love to wear this bra for lower cut tops and dresses.

Body pillow.

What a difference this body pillow makes! I’m experiencing lower back pain lately and this pillow helps alleviate that pain. I’ve also been using a heating/massage pad. The pillow is the equivalent of six pillows around your body and it really envelopes your body into a blissful support system.

Humidifier; Stretch mark minimizer; Tonic body treatment oil.

Here’s a very detailed review of the humidifier and body oil. My pregnancy has made my skin and lip parched and I’m prone to nosebleeds. The humidifier is a true lifesaver. I’m going to use one for the rest of my life, not just for pregnancy. Even Bella’s nose has been hydrated this winter.

The body oil has been really effective, no stretch marks that I can see so far! I recently added the stretch mark minimizer to my arsenal since my baby bump is growing fast and furious during the third trimester. They are working like a dream.

Maternity under belly leggings in anthracite; Maternity fleece lined leggings in fair isle; Maternity lounge pants in heather grey.

I like the under belly maternity leggings style because tops just drape better with a bare belly. No static cling, etc. I’m wearing the grey leggings here and here. I have size XS and it’s a great fit.

I love the fleece lined maternity leggings for the winter weather. So cozy and warm and the answer to when I don’t feel like wearing jeans. They’re actually warmer than wearing regular jeans when it’s very cold. I bought several pairs of these leggings (in black and in grey space dye), but the fair isle pair is my favorite. It’s mislabeled online, it’s not size 0 but rather it’s one size only. I find them comfortable and the fit is spot on (not too big nor too tight). The fair isle is so cute with oversized sweaters and my maternity tunics.

These lounge pants are the best for pajamas and for in-home wear. I wear these everyday or more accurately, every night, and I’m so glad I bought these lounge pants. I purchased the two available colors, grey and black, and in a size XS (true to size). The waistband grows with you throughout your pregnancy and you can place it under or over your baby bump to your preference. The length is great, not too long for my 28″ inseam. So easy to wash (inside out, on cold) and dry (low heat) and the dog hair is all removed when laundered (love this).

Hope this post was helpful for ideas to make your (or a loved one’s) pregnancy more pleasant and comfortable. I know that blog posts like this one have been a godsend for me when I started researching pregnancy stuff online.

Happy Sunday to you! xx

cozy cardigan

Vince cardigan in cinnamon stick (also here, here, here & get an additional 25% off with code JANUARY25 until Monday here); Michael Stars maternity turtleneck in oxide (non-maternity option); Paige Denim maternity grey skinny jeans (more sizes here & here; non-maternity option); Target high-top grey flannel sneakers (old, similar); J.Crew statement earrings.

Yesterday’s outfit called for something warm and cozy. A good cardigan is the sartorial version of comfort food. This is the best grandpa cardigan ever with deep pockets and a delicious blend of tightly knit wool and cashmere. There’s also a raisin color in this cardigan that is really beautiful and on sale at Bergdorf’s (click on the link above & scroll down a bit).

Since I wore a turtleneck underneath, I went for a high ponytail and statement earrings. A sweet feminine touch to counter the grandpa-goes-tomboy vibe of my outfit.

Enjoy your Saturday! xx

how does 60% off clearance sound?

Pretty sweet, yes? You need to hurry on these sales, sizes are going fast! Please note that my 60% off picks below are final sale at J.Crew but not at Nordstrom.

J.Crew velvet cami in deep jade, excursion vest in tartan & double-breasted coat in oxford check; Vince cardigan in cinnamon stick (update, even cheaper here).

I love the velvet camis (reviewed here), so I was excited to see that the deep jade was available in my size and for $24.

I could use a puffer vest since my vest from last year is a little tight on me now. I really like the cheerful red and navy tartan for this. It’s a great deal at $40.

The checked coat is simultaneously cute and classic. Something different from my black puffer coat, which I’m sick of already this winter (but to be fair, it still fits over my baby bump). Yes please for about $100.

This cardigan is the *ultimate* grandpa cardigan. I love this sweater and the cinnamon stick color very much. Cozy and amazing. I ordered this in small and the fit is perfect (it’s not as huge on me as it is on the model). It’s a definite must for your winter wardrobe. The discount is mislabeled on the website, it’s definitely 60% off the regular price. It’s under $200, which for Vince and the cashmere/wool combo, it comes in at a great deal.

Happy shopping!

the classic white shirt

Madewell oversized white shirt (old, similar here, here & here); Motherhood Maternity fleece-lined leggings (non-maternity option here & here); Banana Republic Abby flats in black leather; J.Crew Factory statement necklace (old, similar).

Nothing beats a classic white button-down shirt. It’s polished yet without any fussy effort. This outfit is ridiculously comfortable with my maternity fleece-lined leggings (I’ve been living in these lately) and new triple-strap flats. I added a statement necklace for a little color and bling. Done and done.

Happy Wednesday to you! xx

banana republic’s sale is a must

Banana Republic wrap sweater in burgundy (similar), leopard maxi dress (similar here & here) & Abby flats in black leather.

It was a great Mail Day today, I received my recent Banana Republic online orders (previously discusssed here) and I really love the three items I purchased. Oh, and it’s an additional 50% off all sale items now at Banana Republic. As mentioned in my earlier post, Banana Republic had an additional 40% off sale items, but when they increased the discount to 50%, I reordered the maxi dress and ordered the shoes and top as well.

Banana Republic leopard maxi dress (similar here & here) & Abby flats in black leather.

I’m wearing my usual size of XS and it’s definitely true to size. The overall execution of this dress exceeds my expectations so I am thrilled. It’s lined throughout (except for the sleeves), has pockets and the length is simply perfect for me (no alterations needed, woot). The elastic waistband is very comfortable, which is a small miracle because I’m 7.5 months pregnant and this is not a maternity dress. I am so pleased that I ordered this maxi dress! If they still have your size available, definitely buy it.

I also love the 3-strap flats and they are true to size. Another must have at $50 a pair for leather shoes. I’ve been a longtime fan of the lace-up flats but I get annoyed by the lace-up straps constantly falling down on me. This multi-strap iteration is just as edgy and stylish, but without the fuss (there’s easy access with a back zipper) and annoyance. I was so impressed by the look and comfort of these flats, I just ordered another pair in silver leather.

I hope the wrap top is still available because it’s going to be amazing for nursing. There is a tiny snap to secure the wrap neckline. The lightweight sweater material drapes beautifully and is quite flattering. I bought this top in burgundy in a size Small (one larger than my usual XS) since it was the only size available at the time, and it’s a loose yet doable fit. I just ordered this top in grey in size XS (again, the only available size online).

Have you been shopping the winter clearance sales? Any must-haves you’d like to share?

TGIF, enjoy your weekend! xx

white lines

Gap maternity long-sleeve tee in dark grey stripe (non-maternity option) & maternity legging jeans in indigo (also available in solid black and dark indigo; non-maternity option); Steven by Steve Madden leopard loafers (old, similar here & here).

A bit of pattern mixing in celebration of the unseasonably warm temperatures today. Stripes and leopard are a natural pairing, but I consider leopard a neutral anyway. My outfit is Bella-approved! 🐾

Enjoy your Thursday night! xx

fair isle sweater + white boots

Motherhood Maternity fair isle sweater (also here & non-maternity options here & here); DL1961 Lara maternity jeans (non-maternity Lara jeans); Dolce Vita white ankle boots (also here & here); Bloomingdale’s cashmere cable knit beanie (old, similar).

A maternity fair isle sweater to keep my 29-week baby bump cozy and warm today. White ankle boots and cropped flare jeans to update the classic sweater and jeans winter look.

Have a great Tuesday! xx

leopard to the maxi (dress)

Banana Republic leopard maxi dress.

Banana Republic leopard maxi dress.

I have been seriously eyeing this leopard number from Banana Republic after spotting it on a blogger. Instant love. It looks way more expensive than the regular price of $148. The online reviews for this dress are all in agreement that this dress is as good as it looks online, if not better. I love the movement of this dress, it’s so feminine without even trying.

So, what made me pull the purchase trigger this morning? It went on sale today AND there is an additional 40% off sale items promotion at Banana Republic (no code needed, discount is automatic). So, now the dress is $75.59! So glad I waited from last week. But don’t delay in ordering this maxi dress, sizes are limited.

Happy Monday to you! xx
