J.Crew Factory peter pan collar tee (old, similar here and in grey here & here); Old Navy ponte fit & flare skirt (old, similar here); Jessica Simpson Mandalaye ballet flats in grey leopard; Cara love knot hinge cuff (gold version); Hello Kitty black bow bracelet (similar here); diamond cigar band ring (similar here); Cartier tank watch.

This is such an easy all-black outfit. Comfy too. I’m wearing my new Jessica Simpson Mandalaye ballet flats in grey leopard. I love these shoes so much that I bought a total of 3 pairs when they were on mega sale at Macy’s. I wore the ballet pink color in this post. Aaaand, I also have them in natural leopard. šŸ˜›

Is it Friday yet? Have a great Thursday!

Can you believe I’m wearing L.L. Bean? I haven’t worn L.L. Bean since I was in law school, which was 20 years ago (!). I never had this Scotch plaid flannel shirt before but I remember it from the catalogues (this was pre-internet, double !!). I can see why it’s still around, the flannel material is so plush and soft. It’s very well made for a $40 shirt. Color me impressed. Size down for this shirt, I took a small and it fits perfectly in the shoulders but it’s a looser fit in the torso.

I’m also wearing my new jewelry from Madewell. I am obsessed with all of these pieces. The tiger’s eyes in the ring and earrings are different from the usual. Love the longer length of the tag necklace and the dark cabernet leather cuff is the most perfect color ever.

High marks all around for my recent purchases. Any recent acquisitions you’d like to share?

Have a great week! xx

I love this blouse so much that I have another in a black/white combo (see it here). I had to, the whimsical print just makes me smile.

I’m ready for the weekend, how about you? TGIF!

chambray + stripes

J.Crew Factory chambray dress (old, similar here); Boden Breton striped top (old, similar here); Steven by Steve Madden Madee taupe smoking flats (old but similar here); Alex and Ani bangles (Birthstone, Zodiac & Path of Life); Kate Spade One in a Million initial pendant necklace; Marc by Marc Jacobs Amy rose gold watch.

I didn’t need a jacket this afternoon with my layered look. I was toasty with the long sleeve tee underneath my chambray dress. Pop the collar and unbutton to show off some stripe action. Smoking flats complete the easy look.

How are you layering for fall? Enjoy your Tuesday!

Suddenly there’s a slight chill in the air. Glad I’m prepared with my new wine colored moto jacket. I snagged this during a 30% off promo and I’m so glad I did. This is a traditional motorcycle jacket in all of the elements (belt, zips at the sleeves, snaps where they should be at the lapels and main closures). I’m comparing it to my beloved Schott N.Y.C. Perfecto men’s motorcycle jacket (in black, of course) that I bought during my college days. The real deal of all motorcycle jackets. I still have it and it’s still badass after 20+ years by the way.

The Madewell moto jacket is beautiful, the leather and details are top-notch. I can sniff this jacket all day long, the leather smell is that good. The color is so luxe. I’d wear it as a lip or nail color, it’s truly gorgeous.

I’m also loving my Pedro Garcia Samara booties, they are ridiculously comfy. I snagged these during the Nordstrom anniversary sale in July. Again, I’m thrilled that I did. These are my first pair of Pedro Garcia shoes and they are very well constructed (in Spain, which is my number 2 pick after Italy as far as shoes go).

The leopard top and skinny cargos are old, but they are still favorites of mine. I’m really pleased with how the colors complement each other, perfect for an autumn evening out.

Do you wear motorcycle jackets, leather or in another material?
Happy Monday and cheers! xx

recent purchases

Madewell is doing an additional 30% off all sale items with code PICKMEUP. I ordered 6 pieces of jewelry which averaged $10 per item. That’s a serious steal since the regular prices for their jewelry are a bit on the high side. But since I’ve purchased my Arrowstack necklace, I’m obsessed with Madewell’s jewelry (see the necklace worn here and here). If you order online, don’t forget there’s always free shipping and there’s no qualifying minimum dollar amount! Here they are:

image

Bow ring. So demure and cute, a must to wear with something feminine.

image

Cocktail ring. The coolest statement ring ever. I see this worn with my favorite maxi dresses in the summer and a winter white sweater in the winters.

image

Pendant necklace. Very Grecian-inspired, hence the moniker. Perfect over your favorite slouchy tee or sweater.

image

Tag necklace. This long tag necklace was meant to be layered with your favorite shorter necklaces. Madewell is the best at necklace layering.

image

Earrings. Elegant boho earrings to go with all the things.

image

Leather cuff. You know leather cuff bracelets are my jam, so I naturally had to have this in this dark and rich wine color. It also comes in black.

So, I ordered a couple of rugs from L.L. Bean and I added a plaid button-down flannel shirt and a fisherman knit sweater to the virtual shopping cart. L.L. Bean is not on my radar for clothing, but I’m intrigued by their Signature line which seems to have more of a contemporary look and fit. Remember these cool ankle boots in this post?

The fisherman knit sweater is from the Signature line and seems modernized (cropped and very fitted throughout). It doesn’t look like your (grand)mom’s sweater. The plaid flannel is from the traditional line, however. I’m not stressing in case it doesn’t work out, they are supposedly amazing with returns. And, there’s always free shipping for any dollar amount, yay.

image

Plaid shirt. Sorry for the tiny image. I’ve wanted a Black Stewart plaid shirt for a long time (I still regret passing on the J.Crew Factory shirt from a couple of years ago). This seems to be a staple shirt for many and it gets excellent reviews on the website.

image

Fisherman sweater. 100% cotton, which I appreciate since wool (yet not cashmere, go figure) causes skin rashes for me. Talk about a classic, this sweater will be timeless for years to come.

Have you done some damage, shopping-wise, lately? Please share the details. Enjoy your Sunday Funday! xx

saks friends & family: black and white

It’s Friends & Family sale time at Saks until this Sunday, October 19. Code FRNFAM gets you 25% off of select merchandise (20% off for jewelry). There’s so much goodness to parse through on the website. But, if you’re into a black & white color palette like I am, here are a few of my picks that make this pairing fresh for this fall/winter:

image

Flats. How fun are these ballet flats? Love the mod vibe with the sliver of a block heel that’s decorated with a gold band.

image

Sweater. Love this modern version of the Nordic ski sweater. The fit is slouchy and could be worn over leggings or do the half-tuck into your favorite pair of boyfriend jeans.

image

Dress. You know I love this dress if you’ve seen this post and this post. It’s very flattering and creates the illusion of curves (the good kind, ha). This is my go-to date night dress.

image

Bracelet. I’ve owned this skull bangle for 4 years and it is still in pristine condition. It’s a subtle dose of cool to any outfit.

image

Cardi-Coat. The tribal print is very refined on this cocoon silhouette. The faux leather piping gives this cardi-coat structure and polish. I’d wear this proudly to all the holiday get togethers where lots of eating is involved.

Happy shopping and TGIF! xx

mad for plaid

image

Forever 21 pleather jacket (old but similar here); Madewell linen heathered muscle tee (sold out but similar here) and Arrowstack necklace; Sanctuary ‘Grease’ legging; J.Crew ‘MacAlister’ wedge boots; Alexander McQueen skull bangle (old but similar here); Cara studded leather bracelet (sold out but similar here); Marc by Marc Jacobs ‘Amy’ rose gold watch.

The plaid leggings remind me of the 90’s with the darker color palette (anyone remember Revlon’s Toast of New York lipstick and nail polish?). But, Sanctuary did a nice update with the thicker ponte fabric (forgiving as it smooths out everything) and stitched details. Fear not, they are not your average leggings.

I figured easy neutral layers would work with the plaid. Grey for the tank and nude/beige for my jacket and shoes.

Have you started wearing plaids to welcome Fall 2014? Please share the details.

Happy Hump Day to you!

ChloĆ© had these amazing ballet flats a couple of years ago and I just admired then from afar. They look so feminine, you could easily envision a young Audrey Hepburn wearing these flats. I recently found a more reasonably priced dupe with the Jessica Simpson Mandalaye ballet flats (which come in natural, black, brown, leopard calf hair and a dark grey leopard calf hair!) on Macy’s Instagram (#macyslove). I ordered my true size and they are really comfortable with lots of cushiony padding for your feet. So much nicer than my Tory Burch Eddie flats, where the soles felt super thin and flimsy. You need these Jessica Simpson flats, trust me.

I’m also wearing my new Rag & Bone skinny boyfriend jeans that I picked up in this year’s Anniversary Sale at Nordstrom. The denim is soft and the fit is fantastic. I think they’re a flattering version of the boyfriend jean. Lastly, I’m loving my new white button-down shirt and Arrowstack necklace from Madewell. I wasn’t sure about keeping the white shirt since I have another one from J.Crew Factory, but I wanted to channel my inner Emmanuelle Alt with a proper oversized shirt. This one is perfect, big but not ridiculous. It has side panels which allow for fool-proof half tucks (tucked in the front, left out in the back).

Suffice it to say, I’m loving this slouchy with a bit-of-girly look. Have you been rocking the slouchy or oversized trend with a top or bottom?

Welcome to Lexiland

A little bit country. A little bit rock'n'roll.
