my madewell sale picks (it’s NOJOKE)

Madewell is currently running a 20% discount on purchases of $100+ or a 30% discount on $200+ purchases. There are exclusions, e.g., most of their jeans and swimwear (the new stuff, basically). Use promo code NOJOKE for your online purchases and it ends on April 4th.

Let’s start with today’s outfit, which features one of my favorite pairs of jeans. They’re on major sale right now ($69.99 with the 30% discount applied).

Free People lace-up denim tunic (sold out, Madewell’s version); Madewell grey skinny jeans; Topshop Magnificent boots in tan.

Did I pique your interest with the grey skinny jeans? With the exception of those jeans and the denim lace-up shirt, all of the following picks are $27.99 or under. I mostly browsed the sale stuff for two levels of savings. I’m holding off on the new release items for now because surely there will be a sale down the pike. I can wait.

Madewell embroidered tassel top in almost black, lace-up denim shirt & lo-fi striped tee in camel/ivory.

I’ve been eyeing this embroidered blouse for some time, I think the details are beautiful. The original price was $98, what a score at $27.99 (with a 30% discount).

I really like the lighter wash of denim lace-up shirt and white cord at the neckline gives it a summery vibe.

The camel and ivory striped tee has a retro fitted shape and I love this for denim skirts/shorts and cropped flare jeans.

Madewell grey skinny jeans & lightvision earrings.

I wear these grey skinny jeans probably too much, but grey goes with every color out there. I live in these jeans, the slight stretch makes for a comfortable wear.

I picked these earrings because they have mixed metals, just like my favorite Arrowstack necklace. For the summer, my hair is usually pulled back in a ponytail or bun. I thought a cute little pair of dangly earrings could be a fun touch. It’s weird, I used to love big earrings when I was younger. Now, I almost always wear stud earrings or even go without. Anyway, I’m going to branch out a bit.

Madewell skinny fatigue pants in british surplus & burnished mahogany.

These skinny fatigue pants were a steal at $27.99 (with a 30% discount). Sizes are very limited though. I’d keep checking back online to see if your size pops back. I love this type of pant, my J Brand Houlihan skinny cargo pants were a longtime favorite. But they are too big for me now, so I hope these work. They’d better since they are final sale (::: crosses fingers :::).

Madewell bandana in indigo, coral & cream.

The bandanas were not originally on sale but with the 30% discount, they are $8.75 a pop. So, I bought all three colors. I love bandanas, perhaps you’ve seen me wear them around my neck or on my head. I think they add so much to an outfit for such a humble little piece of cloth. My current bandanas are really old and all have the same bandana pattern. The Madewell bandanas have tiny flowers or a geometric design.

Will you browse/shop the Madewell NOJOKE sale? What do you think of my picks?

Have a great Thursday evening! xx

off the shoulder blues

Free People off the shoulder top in chambray; RACHEL Rachel Roy button-front denim skirt (sold out, similar here, here & here); Circus by Sam Edelman Rosé All Day espadrilles; Madewell pendant necklace (old, similar); Navy bandana (old, similar).

Here’s a follow up to this earlier off the shoulder top post. I love this top! It’s linen-like in texture and it’s more drapey than the white version (I have this one too and I love it as well). It looks great untucked as well as tucked in. I ordered an XS size and it’s true to size. I like how there isn’t too much fabric volume in the torso area so it’s a straight fit. It doesn’t puff out making me look like a bell. These Free People off the shoulder tops are a great find.

I like the 70’s vibe of my outfit. I wore the bandana as a head scarf because my hair wasn’t behaving, but it ended up adding to the retro boho vibe.

Are you planning to wear off the shoulder tops this spring and summer? Happy Wednesday to you! xx

the embellished lace-up sandal

The boho trend is still going at full force, but summertime is when boho is at its very best. I spotted these sandals on Instagram several months ago and thought they were smile inducing. They may be a little much at first, but they grew on me rather quickly. Who doesn’t love rainbow colored pom-poms?

Mabu by Maria BK embellished leather sandals.

However, the $200 price tag is not so smile inducing. But, do you know what is? A similar style for half the price.

Sam Edelman ‘Gretchen’ sandal in golden caramel leather.

What do you think of this boho-inspired sandal? Have a great Monday and week!

rosé all day

Hope you enjoyed your Easter weekend! I wanted to post an Instagram picture of a gift I received from my sister.

Rosé All Day espadrilles..

How cute are these espadrilles? Rosé is a warm weather favorite of mine, so I’m going to let my rosé love flag fly when wearing these.

Enjoy your Sunday evening! xx

let’s get nauti ⚓️

Sanctuary lace-up blouse; Trouvé crop sailor pants; Merona striped flats in navy/ivory; J.Crew lucite link necklace.

Spring has really arrived today and it’s warm enough for bare ankles, cropped pants and a silky blouse. My nautical inspired outfit is a total mood booster and it’s comprised of recent acquisitions. I reviewed the sailor pants here and the necklace here. I mentioned the striped flats here, but my review is that you need these for this spring and summer. I bought a size 8 and it’s true to size with a teeny tiny bit of room back in the heels (I have skinny ankles though). The stripes are striking (looks more expensive than their actual cost) and the perfect compliment to my navy sailor pants. The lace-up blouse is new and I highly recommend this top. I had previously purchased Topshop ribbed lace-up tees but I was too old for that style. Sanctuary’s lace-up tops are great for my sensibilities and are still stylish. I’m wearing my other new Sanctuary lace-up top here, although it’s much more casual than this dressier ivory blouse. I’m wearing a size XS and it’s true to size. It looks very nice untucked too, the flattering drape factor is off the charts.

Overall, I’m extremely pleased with this outfit. I can easily switch out each piece with something more dressy (leopard pumps or heeled sandals and/or fitted blazer or sequin tee/tank) or casual (white leather sneakers and/or a white tee). Versatility at its best, I love when that happens.

Are you doing the nautical look for spring? Happy Wednesday! xx

my love for off-the-shoulder tops

It began last summer when I spotted the Tibi off-the-shoulder tunic top. It was longer in length and had a relaxed fit. I loved how it showed off bare tan shoulders and you could leave the top untucked or tucked in for a different look. Also, I’m not a fan of the cropped off-the-shoulder top since I don’t want a bare midriff when my arms are raised. Fortunately Tibi released the off-the-shoulder top again for this spring but the price remains high at almost $300. Still pretty though–sigh.

Tibi off-the-shoulder top in white and navy.

Imagine my glee when I recently spotted a relatively cheaper dupe of the Tibi top. I purchased the white color below (size XS and it’s true to size with a relaxed fit in the torso) and I just ordered the light blue chambray top. If you’re interested, I’d order the Free People top immediately since they are sold out at other retailers.

Here are some other off-the-shoulder top options that would freshen up your spring and summer wardrobe.

Moon & Meadow off-the-shoulder top and 1.STATE off-the-shoulder top.

Bailey 44 off-the-shoulder top and Theory off-the-shoulder top in navy.

I actually purchased the silk Theory top but the size P (there was no size XS, just P) was too tight across the chest, so I returned it. I did not try on the size small, but I ended up choosing the chambray cotton tunic above instead (I’ll take machine wash over dry clean only anyday).

LOFT black off-the-shoulder top and eyelet off-the-shoulder top.

Madewell striped off-the-shoulder top.

Will you consider the off-the-shoulder look for this spring and summer? Have a great Tuesday!

lace-up monday

Sanctuary lace-up striped top; Banana Republic crop flare jeans; Topshop Magnificent boots in tan; J.Crew studded leather belt in navy (sold out, similar); Navy bandana (old, similar).

A quickie post for today but I wanted to show you my new lace-up top. I’ve been loving the lace-up look ever since I received my Free People denim lace-up tunic for Christmas (worn here). The striped top is a light beige color with black stripes. The material is interesting where the French terry is on the outside of the top. I’m wearing a size XS so it’s runs a little big but I think it’s supposed to have a relaxed fit. I love this soft top, it’s got character.

Enjoy your Monday! xx

recent outfits & review

Lilly Pulitzer Topanga dress in coral; J.Crew floral shield necklace (old, similar); Lucky Brand Leyna sandals in tulip (old, similar); J.Crew Factory golden cuff bracelet.

J.Crew striped tissue turtleneck in ivory/redwood; Banana Republic belted military shirt (sold out, similar); Madewell Alley straight crop jeans (old, similar); Nike Air Pegasus ’83 sneakers in mica green orange (old, similar).

J.Crew gingham linen tunic (25% off with SPRINGSALE online code) & white cropped Billie jeans (25% off with code SPRINGSALE); Topshop Juno ballet pumps.

The first two outfits were recent. The dress was worn during our trip to Hawaii a couple of weeks ago. The second outfit was fitting for the transitional weather we were having at home. The third outfit was when my recent J.Crew purchase (discussed here) arrived and I tried on the goods. I am keeping the gingham tunic because it’s amazing. The lightweight linen material is really soft and substantial. I bought this with intent as using it as a cover-up but it’s too nice not to wear it for a regular outfit. It’s not sheer, so you can wear it as a blouse with a nude colored bra. I bought a size XS and it’s true to size, the shoulder seams hit exactly where they should be.

I returned the white jeans however. I wasn’t feeling the 10+ inch high-waisted rise on me. I also felt it was too long for a crop length. I had ordered a size 25 and it was true to size. I believe that white jeans are something where you need to get the perfect fit and fabrication, so my white jean search continues.

I’m not showing a picture, but I wanted to mention that I also returned the light green bikini. The top was not padded, which I like to have for my bikini tops. The cut of the bikini was also minimal even though I ordered my usual J.Crew bikini size (a size small). I have since noticed that the Italian matte bikini is described online as minimal coverage. I guess I should stick to the moderate coverage bikinis.

What are your favorite pair of white jeans? Have a great weekend! xx

new workout tank fave

GapFit Breathe tie-back tank in white; Lululemon What the Sport short in black & Stuff Your Bra II in pink/stripes (sold out, similar).

GapFit does it again. You may remember my newfound love for Gap’s activewear line here and here. This tank is just as perfect as the sports bras and ballet long sleeve tees, you can leave it loose and untied or tie it for a flattering fit. The fabric is very soft with the perfect drape. It’s true to size, I have the XS in white and in grey. I love how your sports bra peeks out in the back, which is the perfect showcase for a strappy number. More importantly, this also allows for ventilation so you don’t overheat. I wash it on the delicate cycle in the washing machine and low heat in the dryer, it’s so easy.

I lucked out and used a 40% off promo code yesterday (sorry, it’s since expired) so I ordered the mint and heathered blue colors for $16 each. I think it’s an absolute steal, especially after getting my weekly Tuesday email from Lululemon and browsing their $$$$ website. Fear not, Gap has a promo code frequently–just keep checking their website.

Is there a favorite workout gear item that’s a must-have? Happy Wednesday! xx

target saves the day (again) for shoes

You may remember this earlier post about finding a budget friendly sneaker dupe at Target. What a find, I wore the Target sneakers on the regular last fall and winter. Fast forward to my current search for navy and white striped flats. I loved the J.Crew striped flats, but not the price. I had searched online for a similar pair and of course, Target saves the day with a similar striped ballet flat.

J.Crew striped flats; Target striped flats.

Great timing too because Target is currently running a BOGO 50% off promotion, so I got a pair of slide sandals for the summer. I’ve been digging the look of the Gucci criss-cross slides that are so hot now, but those have a very high heel and are $595. The top pair of slides remind me of the Gucci pair but I wasn’t crazy about the Birkenstock-style cork footbed. Fortunately, Target had their rose gold version with white soles, which I find so fresh and unexpected. Perfect to showcase a golden tan. Also, I’m hoping the slides can replace my summer staple of flip flops (they tore the skin off my toes during my recent Hawaii trip).

Loeffler Randall criss cross slides; Target criss cross slides.

If you use your Target RedCard for an additional 5% off, the two pairs of shoes nets you about $39. I also redeemed a couple of Target gift cards (I always forget about them) so I paid about $28–yesssss.

What do you think about the Target shoes? Have you bought any new shoes for spring or summer? Have a great Tuesday!
