Apologies for the delayed reviews, which were a follow-up to this post. I had intended to do this yesterday, but life (and Friday night wine) happens. The good news is that there is a new sale promo code at J.Crew (GETSHOPPING) on select styles, but it may not apply to all of the new items featured in today post. Fear not, I’m confident J.Crew will run another blanket discount code soon.

First, the two painter tees in navy and red stripes are a great value. The soft tees are true to size and I really like the longer length. They stay tucked into your pants, shorts or skirts. I ordered XS, which is my usual size, and it’s very comfortable. I plan to hang dry these so not to risk any shrinkage.

Second, the gazebo pants. As I mentioned earlier, I tried the size 0 in the store, and I fell hard for these pants. The fit is flawless and the true cropped length shows off your shoes and bare ankles. They are true to size (size 0 for me). The only downside is that they are dry clean only per the label. I’ve washed linen at home before with success but I’m not one for ironing, so….

5/23/16 Update: I returned the white Gazebo pants yesterday. Since it’s been a cold and rainy spring, I hadn’t had the opportunity to wear them. But, the fact that they were dry clean only gave me serious pause. Also, I didn’t think it was the most flattering cut in white pants for me. I am very picky when it comes to white pants or white jeans. I don’t want to exaggerate my shorter legs and I feel that white on the bottom half of my outfit could make that feature more prominent. Oh well, back to the drawing board for white jeans that are machine washable.

Third, the chino sailor shorts. I think they run just a bit large (I’m wearing my usual size 0), but I’m keeping these anyway since size 00 is currently sold out online and they may shrink in the dryer. I’d rather have a looser fit for my shorts anyway, I hate wedgies when I wear shorts.

Lastly, no outfit picture, but I am keeping the halter bikini top & ruched bikini bottom in brilliant periwinkle. I purchased both in my usual J.Crew swimwear size (size Small) and the fit is spot on. The halter top is a nice change from my usual string bikini top and the ruched bikini bottom is very vintage pin-up girl, which is also a departure from my go-to string bikini bottoms. Both pieces definitely offer more coverage than J.Crew’s “modest coverage” string bikini tops and bottoms, but they’re not entering the mature bikini realm either.
