Good morning! Apologies for the delayed follow-up post. Yesterday was such a long day running around in general, driving all over the place, that I inadvertently deleted my blog draft in my sleepy stupor last night. So, here’s take two on my personal picks/purchases from the sale. Just in time for the first day of early access for Nordstrom cardholders!
Stuart Weitzman Hilo over-the-knee boots in black suede.
These over-the-knee boots are amazing in black suede, the fit is perfect (I took my usual size 8). They can be left all the way up or you can fold over the top for another look or to make the shaft shorter. For reference, my legs are short at a 28-28.5″ inseam. I measured the boots where the shaft is 26″ and the suede facing inside the top of the boot is 9.5″ if you wanted to cuff the boot.
Stuart Weitzman boots like these never seem to go on sale, especially in black. I finally found my over-the-knee boots, I’m so excited to wear them over my skinny jeans and leggings as well as under my sweater dresses.
Update: I ended up returning the Hilo boots to Nordstrom. I decided they were too high for my shorter legs and looked like I was wearing black suede pants under my dresses. It looked really odd. The good news is that I subsequently purchased Stuart Weitzman Lowland over-the-knee boots (on sale) and I couldn’t be happier with the Lowland boots. The height and fit are perfect for me.
Pedro Garcia Persis sandal in fox suede.
The image in the right is true to the actual greige color of the sandal, more grey than beige/taupe. I was planning to get this in black, but the fox color was beautiful in person and really showcased the many details and the luxe texture of the suede.
Paul Green Jojo loafer in bordeaux patent.
These were an in-store discovery, I loved the bordeaux color and the thicker sole won me over. They are light in weight too. They run big so I sized down one half size, so I bought a size 7.5 (I’m a size 8 usually). These will go with nearly everything in my casual wardrobe but I’m digging the Nordstrom stock photos that pair cropped jeans and pants with this loafer. It’s got that masculine or tomboy feel.
Vince Alanis oxford in black leather.
I was very intrigued when I spotted these oxfords in my catalog. Again, the thick sole and the contrasting details are what drew me in. They are true to size for me although they are a touch narrow in the toe box but it’s very slight. These will look so smart with my Topshop cropped trousers.
Ugg Aira knit slipper in grey knit.
I saw these Ugg slippers in the catalog and thought they were cute but not worth the sales price. Then I spotted the slippers in the store and naively tried them on. Heaven in a slipper. I rationalized that I wear slippers constantly at home (no outside shoes in the house) and burn through cheap slippers at a ridiculous rate of speed. So, I will try out the high quality Uggs.
The sizing is your typical Ugg size (runs very big), I got a size 6. But I plan to exchange them for a size 7, the length is not long enough in the size 6.
Update: I ended up returning the Ugg slippers. I’d rather spend the money elsewhere.
Tom Ford Solange sunglasses in pale gold/ivory/brown lenses.
At the present time, the Solange style are not available online (I saw it online about 3 hours ago). I’ve always wanted a pair of Tom Ford sunglasses but never got around to trying them on in a store (online shopping is my method). Plus, the regular price on his sunglasses (as is everything else Tom Ford) is very high. The ivory frames and oversized lenses are very 70’s disco, something that Sharon Stone’s character in Casino would wear. They are lightweight. I feel like Jackie O in these.
Here are two other Tom Ford sunglass styles that are included in the Anniversary Sale: Alicia and Abbey. I remember another Tom Ford style at the store but it’s currently unavailable online. It’s the cross-cross design for the frames that Tom Ford is known for.
Butter London is a fave and I really liked all six colors, which is rare when it comes to these beauty sets. The price was very reasonable too.
Sisley-Paris was an in-store discovery, a company rep was there explaining the virtues of this set. In-home facials are easy and much cheaper than one facial at a spa. He said the set should last for six months for facials. I’ve never used Sisley-Paris products before. Not sure if I want to keep it only because I already have a stockpile of skincare products waiting to be used. So, it’s a return to Nordstrom for me.
These are my #1 favorites and I usually stock up during the Anniversary Sale. I got four pairs because it’s 4/$54. I also typically stock up on my favorite bra, the Natori Feathers bra, but I’m good until next year.
Here’s a future fall/winter outfit with my new Vince car coat, which really is a plush long cardigan, and jeans. This is my second Vince car coat and they are surprisingly warm–super cozy. The sizing is true to size but with a generous fit, I’m wearing a size XS.
These jeans are beyond, I’m in love the high-low hem. Frame Denim was on my premium denim wishlist, so I’m thrilled Nordstrom added this brand for their Anniversary Sale. The fit is true to size, I’m wearing a size 25 waist.
So, that’s it for now. I placed an online order early this morning for a few more things that I wanted to check out in the store yesterday but were not available. I will post about it in the next few days, hopefully my order will be delivered quickly.
What did you score at the #nsale? I’d love to hear about your new finds. 🙂
