reviews of new faves

Bella Freud ‘Glam’ sweater (sold out, here’s my other Bella Freud sweater; also here).

I can understand why Bella Freud has a cult following for her clothes, her graphic sweaters are referential to all things cool. I got the Glam sweater on major clearance at Net-A-Porter website, it may have been the last one in stock. I’m wearing a size XS in this sweater and it’s true to size. My other Bella Freud sweater is a size medium and it’s a looser fit. I got it on major sale too (online from Madison Los Angeles) and it was the only size left, but it allows me to layer another top underneath, whereas the XS is too fitted for layers underneath. I’m very pleased with my new sweater. It will inspire me to kick it up a notch while getting dressed, or I can wear it ironically with my leggings for lounging around–ha!

GapFit Breathe ballet longsleeve tee in heather grey & strappy bra in alluring yellow; Zella space dye leggings (sold out, similar); Beats Studio wireless headphones.

Apologies for the fuzzy picture, the back selfie proved difficult to master. I’m obsessed with these GapFit long-sleeve tees and strappy sports bras. Both really go the distance for cardio workouts and resistance training. The tees are soft and cozy, yet the open back gives great ventilation when you need it. Besides the sexy back, the fluid drape and longer length are what works for this top. It skims over your body but doesn’t show lumps or bumps and the longer length doesn’t let the top creep upwards. Yet, it’s not too long where you end up sitting on your top, it is the perfect winter top for the rower machine (where you’re seated). I loved this tee so much, I bought all the colors with whatever promo codes Gap was running at the time. I bought a size XS and it’s true to size.

The strappy sports bras are very comfortable and the back detail is so pretty. It gives your chest a nice and natural shape and it has removable pads. The top hits at the right spot on your chest where you can bend over a bench or do your planks and you can’t see down the bra. They are a serious contender to my favorite Lululemon sports bras but I bought them for less than half the price, thanks again to online promo codes. I bought a size small in the bras and they are true to size. Generally, XS sports bras seem to be too small for me even though I typically wear an XS in everything else (go figure).

Topshop fringe sweater & cigarette trousers in grey; Jessica Simpson ‘Mandalaye’ ballet flats in natural.

The sweater and the cropped trousers were new purchases, but I returned the sweater. It was cozy and you know I love fringe, but I felt it overpowered my frame. I am very pleased with the pants though, they are the perfect length to show off your shoes. I was trying on the pants and wanted to see how they looked with flats, not sure I’d wear them with the ballet flats though. I was thinking of wearing my white sneakers, pumps, or a pointy toe shoe. There is a bit of stretch to the fabric and they are comfortable. I’m in need of dressier pants, something other than jeans or chinos, but I didn’t want a suit looking pant either (although these would work well for work). The price could not be beat either, at $38 a pair. I sized up to a US 4 in these, the US 2 was too short in the rise for me.

J.Crew striped boatneck t-shirt in undyed cinnamon atlantic; Topshop cigarette trousers in navy (also in black) & ‘Juno’ ballet pumps in gold.

Here are the same cropped trousers, but in navy. Again, I just tried on the pants when I took the picture, so you may see the tag underneath my hand. I think they look smart with the pumps. And, stripes never hurt. I can’t wait for spring so I can bare my ankles again.

3/22/16 Update: I returned the Topshop cropped trousers in navy because I purchased navy sailor pants (discussed here).

What have you been loving lately? Have a great Wednesday! xx

Love Bella Freud!! I have her “Into this” sweater in red (also bought on sale!) and I’ve been eyeing her “Je t’aime Jane” in black but can’t stomach paying full price! And I love the Juno glove shoes on you! I have them in the grey and black – they are so so comfy!

You have great taste, Edie! 😉
Thank you for your lovely comments. I can’t justify paying full price either for Bella Freud sweater too, so I keep checking for sales and promo codes constantly. And I just hope my size (or close enough) is still available, lol. Oooh, the grey Juno shoes are such a pretty shade of dove grey. Hmmm, these may be a future purchase, thank you! xx

LOVE the graphic tee shirt, it’s pretty fun! And on sale makes it even better:) And what can I say about the new shoes? LOVE them! I have a similar pair of block heels and I’m still lusting after a pair of the flats 🙂
