Party Dress: Sequel to Brocade

I love brocade, there’s something very special occasion about brocade.  So, I was on the hunt for a brocade dress.  Yesterday, I found the perfect dress at Lord & Taylor, online, of all places.  And it was on a major sale!  It’s Theia’s Jacquard Paper Bag dress.

It was originally $595, but I searched on and Lord & Taylor had the lowest price for $178.49, but there’s an additional 20% off all regular and sale priced items, so the dress was $142.79.  With free overnight shipping too!  Major score.  I just got the dress and it’s really beautiful.  It’s fully lined (which the Cynthia Rowley dress was not on the skirt portion of the dress) and there’s a net petticoat in between to give it some oomph.  The skirt of the dress hits right above my knees and the fabric is really lovely.  The colors are very pretty as well, hot pink, purple, gold.  I cannot wait to wear it!
I had ordered the dress already from Saks online but it’s going back since their sale price was $214.19.  Sorry Saks, but the $70+ price difference was too much to pass on.  I am very happy because the Cynthia Rowley dress was $398, not on sale at Anthropologie.  I guess brocade or jacquard does not come cheap!
I have never shopped Lord & Taylor before and I’ll be honest, I thought it was a store for my mom and her generation.  But I’m a convert now and will happily add this retailer to my list of favorites.
In case it gets a little hectic over the next few days, I wanted to say thank you for reading my blog and to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy 2012!
